Divider strips are cut and placed on the prepared flooring surface before the terrazzo is mixed and installed. They are used to separate color changes in the floor, create patterns and designs, and can control cracking in the ⅜” thick terrazzo overlay.
Types of Divider Strips
We use three common types of divider strips for different purposes.
Thick Metal Strips – Used for color changes and as a transitions to other materials. Available in Aluminium, Brass, or Zinc metal.
Thin Metal Strips – Used for the grid pattern. Available in Aluminium, Brass, or Zinc metal.
Neoprene Strips – Installed over cold joints. Provides some flexibility in the floor for movement in the concrete slab.
