The right floor is the surface that is best matched to the needs of the space. Schools need flooring options that are long-lasting, can withstand aggressive wear and tear, while being affordable to install, and easy to clean. Schools need floors that will last years, maybe a few decades, without needing serious repairs. Polished concrete and epoxy floor coatings are great flooring options for schools because of these reasons. Additionally, both polished concrete and epoxy floor coatings can be customized to better suit the specific needs and design of the school.

Polished Concrete

Polished concrete takes advantage of an existing feature—the concrete slab—and hones it into a fully finished floor. The polishing process uses penetrating products that densify the concrete. A concrete slab can be porous. Densifiers get deep into the slab and fill these pores; this make the slab stronger and less likely to absorb other things. Our process also uses a stain guard as a finishing product. This works as a water repeller, giving time to clean up spills.

New Concrete

Polished concrete is a great choice in new construction. It’s easy to clean and maintain; this makes it ideal for heavy-traffic areas, like corridors or multi-purpose spaces. With proper upkeep and care, it can last the lifetime of the structure. This makes it one of the most cost-effective options on the market.

Remodel, Repair, ReFresh

Existing concrete floors can be given new life through deep cleaning, repairing the surface, or refinishing the floor. On floors that have existing polished concrete, the surface is refinished. Floors that were covered with tile can be fully polished after the tile is removed. Terrazzo floors can have the wax removed and be restored through our StrongTread Polish—Remodel system.

Epoxy Floor Coatings

Epoxy floor coatings are a great, specialized option. They are great with wet environments (locker rooms, changing rooms, bathroom), greasy kitchens, areas that have chemical use (like chemistry labs or auto shops), and spaces with foot traffic.

Custom Options

Polished concrete floors and epoxy floor coatings can often a customized solution for your specific needs. The school colors can be used within the floor to promote school spirit. The mascot or logo can be stained within the floor.
