Maintaining your new floor is an important part of preserving its durability. Not maintaining your floors can lead to a dull finish, lose its sheen, and become less stain resistant. Our flooring systems only require simple maintenance for your floor to look excellent and perform well for many years. By following the below procedures, you can extend the life of your floors.

Sweep regularly to maintain your floors.
A simple dry sweep is the first step in maintaining your floors.

GENERAL CLEANING FOR STRONGTREAD FLOORS

Dry sweep or microfiber wipe the floor of dirt and debris. Mop or scrub floor with a neutral PH cleaner and water. An autoscrubber with a soft bristle brush, white or red pad works best. Consolideck Daily Klean by Prosoco is the recommended cleaning product. We also use a product called Balance LS from Janitor Supply Company. This is a neutral PH cleaner that will not leave a residue when used. Some stone cleaners are effective as well. Your cleaning crew or maintenance staff may also have recommendations.

As always, we suggest trying in a hidden spot to test compatibility. You never have to apply wax on our StrongTread floor systems. Do not use vinegar-based cleaning solutions as this may etch or dull the surface. After cleaning, the floor can be buffed with a high-speed burnisher fitted with a general-purpose ‘hog’s hair’ pad.

GENERAL CLEANING FOR SEALCRAFT AND TREADWELL FLOORS

Use a soft broom or dust mop to clean off loose dirt and debris. Hose off the floor with water and squeegee. We regularly use a product called Balance LS from Janitor Supply Company. This is a neutral PH cleaner that will not leave a residue when used. Some hardwood and laminate floor cleaners are effective as well. Your cleaning crew or maintenance staff may also have recommendations.

As always, we suggest trying in a hidden spot to test compatibility. You never have to apply wax on our SealCraft or Treadwell floor systems.

FLOOR CONDITIONING

As needed, usually every 3-6 months for highest traffic areas to every 8 years for residential locations.

When the floor is harder to clean and water does not readily bead on the surface, a floor conditioner can be used to keep the best in stain resistance. After wet scrubbing the floor and drying, the floor conditioner can be applied with a small sprayer and micro-fibered into the surface and allowed to dry. The recommended ongoing conditioner is LS Guard by Prosoco. Follow manufacturer instructions. Once dry, burnish with a heat pad if desired.

We can also be contracted to do this process. Please reach out for a quote and scheduling.

Auto scrub to maintain your floors
Auto scrubbing makes maintenance simpler for large spaces, cleaning proficiently and drying your floors faster.

DEEP CLEANING

To eliminate any tire marks and for a better cleaning use a gentle cleaner such as Simple Green (diluted 1 part cleaner to 10 parts water). Allow the product to dwell on the surface, scrub, and vacuum before the product dries. No harsh cleaners need to be used on the surface. Rinse the surface with clean water.

BEST PRACTICES

  • Walk-off floor mats placed at entrances help alleviate salt and dirt accumulation on the surface. Mats should be maintained and kept clean.
  • Dirt and debris can act as a sandpaper on a polished finish and dull the finish. Sweep up as soon as possible.
  • Certain substances can damage the surface if left to stand. It is always best to clean up spills immediately.
  • Do not use solvents such as Xylene, Acetone, MEK or other strong solvents as these as these will eat away at the finished surface.
  • For rolling chairs use rubber wheeled office furniture. Plastic wheels will mark up the finished floor and show wear marks. For other types of chairs, install protectors under the feet of furniture.
  • Certain tires, especially RV and high speed rated tires can leave marks on the surface. It is best to park these vehicles on floor mats.

Maintaining your floors after installation is the best way to preserve their longevity. We understand that floors need to balance aesthetics, durability, simple maintenance, and safety. Our goal is to balance real-world practicality with good design. Following the above procedures will extend the life of your floor and increase stain resistance and durability.
