Apple Blossom Resort is an extensive property that is the definition of luxury vacationing in the Midwest. Located just five minutes from Lake Michigan and able to accommodate 44 people, this resort is the perfect place to take a family excursion. The property includes three separate houses; the main house, the guest house, and the cabin. There is a pool, hot tub, three fire pits, tennis and basketball courts, and a fitness room. The structures feature 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms between them. Dancer Concrete Design contributed to the space by polishing the concrete floors in the large main house.
Utilizing polished concrete in a space is a great way to make the floors stand out while still complimenting the other natural features of the structure. In the case of Apple Blossom Resort, natural features include exposed wood in the kitchen and living room, a 20-foot wooden dining room table and other natural furnishings, and the outdoor scenery that can be seen from large windows in all rooms. We love natural, polished concrete flooring because the floors provide a subtle background to the features of the house while still making a statement in their own way.
Our team began the polishing process in this new construction by filling the open control joints in the floor. We used a semi-rigid material that would still allow the floor to shift if needed. The color used for the control joints was Warm Stone to compliment the natural concrete coloring. Then, our team completed a 100MR wet pass. The aggregate that was desired is Class A – Cream exposure. We then densified, completed a 200R dry pass, and finished with stain guard and burnishing to give the floor the subtle matte sheen that was desired for the space.
